Edtech Company Sponsors Sanitary Pads to Alleviate Period Poverty

In our ongoing support for The Homestead in Cape Town, South Africa, Construct and our staff members came together to collect period products for the girls and young women registered with The Homestead centers.

In South Africa, one in three girls miss school every month because their families cannot afford to buy them sanitary products. We could not ignore this, and as part of our Women’s Month awareness campaign, we encouraged teams to help fight period poverty by donating sanitary pads.

The combination of staff and company donations resulted in a collection of over 200 packs of disposable sanitary pads and 30 reusable pads. In addition, we received staff donations of over $170 (R3000) that we used to purchase ten boxes of KickStart Combos from Palesa Pads so that more girls don’t need to worry about the monthly purchase of pads.

Once again, we received a warm reception at The Homestead when we delivered the packages to their office in Cape Town. The Homestead team was confident that they would now be able to distribute sanitary pads to more than just the original group of 50 girls.

The Construct Outreach team is delighted to be kicking off the third campaign for the year—Santa Shoebox. We can’t wait to start decorating and filling our shoeboxes, spreading joy over the festive season. We aim to ensure that no child at The Homestead feels left out of the end-of-year celebrations.
